the problem

Why does Google Merchant Center reject your shop’s products?

Usually because of missing or wrong data: no image, a zero price, an invalid EAN, a missing brand, no Google category, a title that’s too long. The channels report it product by product, once the file has already been sent. Product Feeds checks everything before publishing the file and explains what to fix and where.

how it works

How does Product Feeds work?

  • Five channels from one module: Google Merchant Center, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Pinterest, TikTok and Trovaprezzi, with a feed for every language, currency and country you need.
  • Which products: filters by category, brand, supplier, price range and availability; one row per variant where the channel wants it.
  • Rules and labels: exclude or edit products with conditions on category, brand, price, quantity and more; add custom labels to split your campaigns, such as “high end” or “summer”.
  • Title templates: for example name, brand and variant, even with a different template for each category.
  • Google categories: match your categories to Google’s taxonomy with suggestions; subcategories inherit the match.
  • Per-product overrides: from the product page, exclude an item from the feeds, write a dedicated title, set a different GTIN or Google category.
  • Prices and shipping: full price and sale price with the promotion dates; shipping costs omitted, calculated from the carrier or set as a fixed amount.
  • Diagnostics, preview and history: after every generation you see the problems by type, with an explanation and a link to the product; the preview shows the file row without generating anything.

channels

Where do you paste the feed for each channel?

After the first generation the module gives you the file address, with a button to copy it: you paste it into the channel once, and the channel then downloads it by itself. The address contains a secret code, so don’t publish it on your website.

Where to paste the feed address in each channel
ChannelWhere to paste it
Google Merchant CenterProducts › Data sources › Add products from a file › Enter a link to your file
Meta (Facebook and Instagram)Commerce Manager › Catalogue › Data sources › Scheduled feed
PinterestAds › Catalogues › Create a data source
TikTokCatalogue › Products › Add products › Data source › Schedule
TrovaprezziMerchant area › Price list URL

speed

Does the feed slow the shop down?

No. The feed is generated in the background, in batches, never while customers are browsing, and the online file stays the old one until the new one is complete. In our tests, 50,000 rows of products and variants were generated in about 12 seconds; if the work stops, it resumes where it left off.

Automatic updates need a scheduled task on the server (cron): a command every hour or an address to call every 5–15 minutes. Whoever manages your hosting sets it up, or we do. Files can also be downloaded compressed, which makes them much lighter.

ThemeAny: the module works in the back office and writes the feed files, it doesn’t touch the shop’s pages
With a theme other than Flag ThemeThe feed uses PrestaShop’s standard data. Delivery times, EPREL energy labels, videos and key features come from Flag Theme’s modules: without the theme those fields stay empty
Automatic updatesRequires a cron job on the server: a command every hour or an address to call every 5–15 minutes

With Omnibus Compliance the feed’s strikethrough price stays consistent with the product page; with Smart Sorting your most important products get the “top” label, to use in your campaigns.

faq

Frequently asked questions about PrestaShop feeds

Does it work if I don’t use Flag Theme?

Yes, on PrestaShop 9 it works with any theme: it works only in the back office and in the feed files, without touching the shop’s pages. With another theme the feed uses PrestaShop’s standard data. Delivery times, EPREL energy labels, videos and key features come from Flag Theme’s modules instead: without the theme those fields stay empty.

Do I need a cron job to update the feeds?

Yes, automatic updates need a scheduled task on the server: a command every hour or an address to call every 5–15 minutes, which works in batches of a few seconds. Whoever manages your hosting sets it up, or we do. Without a cron job you can still update a feed by hand with “Generate now”.

Why is a product rejected from the feed?

Because the channel would reject it: for example the image is missing, the price is zero, the EAN isn’t valid or the brand is missing, which Meta, TikTok and Trovaprezzi require. After every generation the diagnostics list the problems by type, with an explanation, what to do and a link to the product page. Warnings don’t exclude the product: they tell you what to improve.

Does the feed contain customer data?

No: feeds contain only catalogue data, never customer data. The cost price is exported only if you switch on the dedicated option. File addresses contain a long secret code, the feed folder can’t be listed and asks search engines not to index it.

How many products can it handle?

In our tests on PrestaShop 9.2, 50,000 rows of products and variants were generated in about 12 seconds. Work is saved after every batch: if it stops because of a time limit or a restart, it resumes from there. The online file stays the previous one until the new one is complete.

How does it handle variants and discounted prices?

For Google, Meta, Pinterest and TikTok the feed has one row per variant by default, such as size and colour; for Trovaprezzi only the default variant. You can change this feed by feed. The full price and the sale price are exported separately, with the promotion dates, so the channel shows the discount.
