What is a PrestaShop module?

A PrestaShop module is a component you install from the back office that adds a feature to the shop, without changing PrestaShop’s code. You enable it, configure it and, if you no longer need it, uninstall it.

How do you choose a PrestaShop module without breaking your shop?

Before installing a module, check five things:

  1. Compatibility: your PrestaShop and PHP versions must be among those stated.
  2. No changes to PrestaShop’s core: modules that use core “overrides” can clash with other modules and with updates. Smart Sorting, Omnibus Compliance and Shop Migrator don’t use any.
  3. Who updates it: a module that hasn’t been touched for years becomes a problem at the first PrestaShop update.
  4. Who answers you: ideally the people who wrote it.
  5. What happens if you uninstall it: a good module removes its settings and doesn’t leave the shop half-finished.

Frequently asked questions about PrestaShop modules

How do you install a PrestaShop module?

From the back office: go to Modules › Module Manager, choose “Upload a module”, select the zip file and then open the configuration. It only takes a few minutes. If you’d rather not do it yourself, Flag’s PrestaShop support can take care of it.

Are the prices one-off or a subscription?

One-off: you pay for the module once, with a licence for one shop and 12 months of updates. All prices exclude VAT: with Italian VAT a €29 module costs €35.38, a €49 one costs €59.78 and Copilota AI, at €99, costs €120.78.

Do they work with my theme?

Smart Sorting, Omnibus Compliance and B2B Registration work with any theme and are already included in Flag Theme; Omnibus integrates by itself with Flag Theme, while with other themes you choose in the settings where to show the price line. Cookie Consent and Online Withdrawal are also included in Flag Theme and work with other themes, but script blocking and the footer link are automatic only with Flag Theme. Thumbnail Regenerator, Speed-up, Copilota AI and Access Hours work in the back office, with any theme. Promo Popups works with any theme thanks to its fallback style. Product Feeds works with any theme; only with Flag Theme does it add delivery times, energy labels and videos to the feeds. The other Flag Theme modules aren’t sold on their own: their look is built into the theme.

Do they work with PrestaShop 1.7 or 8?

It depends on the module: Thumbnail Regenerator works from PrestaShop 1.7 to 9, B2B Registration and Copilota AI from PrestaShop 8 onwards, Shop Migrator reads data from PrestaShop 1.7, while Smart Sorting, Omnibus Compliance, Cookie Consent, Online Withdrawal, Speed-up, Promo Popups, Product Feeds and Access Hours require PrestaShop 9.

Can I get an invoice?

Yes, for every purchase you receive an electronic invoice from Flag Agency, made out to you or your company.
