PrestaShop e-commerce

PrestaShop e-commerce development: online shops that actually sell

Flag Agency, a PrestaShop web agency in Frattamaggiore (Naples, Italy), designs and develops custom online shops: up to 300,000 products, 9 languages and 26 currencies. The site is yours, and we explain every choice in plain words.

A real person from the team replies, not a bot. We reply within 24 hours.

who it’s for

Who is a PrestaShop shop built by Flag for?

For companies and shops that want to sell online with a large catalogue, several languages or complicated shipping rules. And for anyone who already has an old or slow PrestaShop and wants to rebuild it without starting from scratch.

  • You have a shop and want to start selling online

You have the products, the customers and the experience. What’s missing is the online shop. We start from how you sell over the counter today and bring it online: catalogue, payments, shipping, all ready from day one.

  • You already have a slow or outdated PrestaShop

Pages take too long to load, the theme can’t be updated, every change is a risk. We rebuild the site while keeping your products, customers, orders and Google rankings.

  • You sell abroad too

More languages, more currencies, different shipping costs for each country. PrestaShop handles it natively and we set it up for you: up to 9 languages and 26 currencies in the same shop.

We build PrestaShop online shops for businesses in Naples and all over Italy, working remotely where needed. Whether you need a brand-new shop or someone to rebuild one that’s already up and running, we work the same way: the same team looks after you from the first meeting to launch.

what’s included

What does building your online shop include?

Custom design, development, basic SEO, payment and shipping setup, training so you can run it yourself and 1 month of support after launch. It’s the complete suite for selling online: nothing extra to buy before you start.

Your complete e-commerce suite, ready for launch

Payments, shipping, discounts and coupons, stock, staff permissions, more languages and currencies: all in one back office, PrestaShop’s. You don’t need three different programs to run your shop.

method 10

Method 10: what extra does a shop built by Flag have?

Every Flag online shop is built with Method 10: 10 points included that an off-the-shelf PrestaShop shop doesn’t have, namely technical SEO, brand categories, WhatsApp support, a powerful server, accessibility, our own theme with compliant cookies and withdrawal button, invoicing at checkout, smart sorting, advanced product pages and conversion optimisation.

  1. 1. Technical SEO and site structure

Clean URLs, tidy categories, structured data and fast pages, set up for Google from day one rather than bolted on later. We don’t promise rankings: we give you solid foundations. And if your addresses change, you already know how to avoid 404 errors.

  2. 2. Brand subcategories and branded categories

As well as the “boilers” category and the brand page, the shop has pages that combine them, for example the boilers of a single brand. These are the most precise searches, made by people who already know what they want to buy.

  3. 3. Support on WhatsApp

When something goes wrong you message someone on the team who knows your shop on WhatsApp, instead of opening a ticket and waiting. It’s the same team as our PrestaShop support.

  4. 4. A very powerful server

The shop stays fast even when lots of visitors arrive at once, like during the sales or when a campaign takes off. The server is included in the project: we look after it, with daily backups kept for 30 days. It’s our managed PrestaShop hosting.

  5. 5. Accessibility

The shop can be used with just a keyboard or with a screen reader, as the European Accessibility Act requires of anyone selling online to consumers. Want to know how your current site measures up? Start with an accessibility check.

  6. 6. Our own exclusive theme, with compliant cookies and withdrawal

The shop’s design is built on Flag Theme, our PrestaShop theme, which we developed for PrestaShop 9. It isn’t a theme bought on a marketplace and full of features you don’t use: we know it line by line. And it comes with compliance already in place: a cookie banner that follows the Italian Data Protection Authority’s guidelines, which blocks tracking scripts until consent, and the online withdrawal button required by Directive (EU) 2023/2673 since 19 June 2026.

  7. 7. Checkout with “Request an invoice”

Buyers tick “Request an invoice” and only see the fields they need for Italian e-invoicing: tax code, VAT number, SDI code or certified email (PEC). Fewer mistakes on electronic invoices, fewer emails to fix them. It’s one of the modules included in the theme.

  8. 8. Product sorting with our own algorithm

The products you want to sell go to the top of each category and out-of-stock ones to the bottom, without reordering them by hand every week. Our smart product sorting module does it for you.

  9. 9. Advanced product pages

On the same page customers find the specs that matter, accessories, alternatives, documents to download and other customers’ questions. Fewer doubts, fewer phone calls before buying.

  10. 10. Advanced CRO

CRO means turning more visitors into customers. Every page is designed to lead to a purchase, then we measure it and improve it: here’s where we start to increase e-commerce conversions.

pricing

How much does a PrestaShop online shop cost?

It depends on your project: number of products, integrations (management software, marketplaces), languages, design and migration from an old site. That’s why Flag’s quote is tailor-made: we prepare it after a call, item by item, so you know what you’re paying for.

What the cost depends on
What Why it costs more
Number of products More products means more categories, filters and product pages to set up, upload or import
Connection to your management software Products, stock and orders have to talk automatically to the software you already use
Custom modules Features that don’t exist ready-made have to be designed and written from scratch
Migration from an old site Products, customers, orders and URLs have to be moved and checked one by one
More languages Each language needs extra copy, translations and checks
Highly custom design More pages designed to measure = more design hours

There’s no fixed price because it depends on your project: after a call we send you a tailor-made quote.

Want a rough idea of the cost right now?

The calculator gives you an indicative range, excluding VAT, based on what you choose. We prepare the tailor-made quote after the call.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. We offer staged payments, so you don’t have to pay everything up front before you sell. For some projects we also consider a revenue-share partnership: part of the fee comes from the shop’s sales.

PrestaShop is free: what do you actually pay for?

The PrestaShop software is free and open source: there are no licences to pay. The real costs are three: the project and development, hosting (the server where the site lives) and any paid modules. You can choose the hosting yourself or leave it to us with Flag’s managed PrestaShop server: either way, we help you work out what you need. To find out more, read our guide on how to choose PrestaShop hosting.

timing

How long does it take to get an online shop live?

It mainly depends on how many products you have, how many integrations are needed and how quickly you send us photos and copy.

We tell you before we start, in writing in the quote, with the dates of each phase.

how we work

How we work: from brief to launch in 5 steps

Analysis, design, development, upload and testing, launch with training. At every step you know what we’re doing and what we need from you.

Tell us what you sell, who to and how. We look at your current site, if there is one, and your competitors’.

  2. Step 02

    Design

We design the home page, category page and product page. You see them, comment on them and we refine them together.

  3. Step 03

    Development

We build the shop on PrestaShop and connect payments, shipping and any management software.

  4. Step 04

    Upload and testing

We upload or import the products and test every purchase journey, on phone and computer, before a real customer does.

  5. Step 05

    Launch and training

We go live, teach you how to use it and stay by your side for the first month.

A beautiful online shop that doesn’t sell is no use to anyone. That’s why we make every design choice with the buyer in mind: if you want to see where we start, read how to increase an online shop’s conversions.

AI

Where we use AI (and where we don’t)

AI helps us with long, repetitive tasks: product pages, translations, data analysis. Strategy, design and the final check are done by people on the team.

  • Product pages: a first draft of the descriptions, which we then reread and correct. Here’s how to write product descriptions that sell.
  • Translations: for a multilingual shop, AI prepares the base and we review it before publishing.
  • Analysis: it helps us read sales data and spot what isn’t working sooner.

For you it means fewer paid hours for repetitive work and more time spent on what makes you sell. AI is a tool in our workshop, not the product we sell you.

why PrestaShop

Why PrestaShop and not Shopify or WooCommerce?

Because with PrestaShop the site and data are yours, you don’t pay platform fees and it handles large, multilingual catalogues. It’s the platform we work on every day, for our own online shops too.

PrestaShop, Shopify and WooCommerce compared
PrestaShop Shopify WooCommerce
Who owns the site It stays on the Shopify platform You (it’s a WordPress extension)
Platform cost Monthly fee, forever Free software, you pay for hosting and extensions
Fees on sales Charged if you don’t use their payment system None from the platform
Large, multilingual catalogues Possible, often with paid apps Possible, with more plugins to keep updated
Ease of getting started Very easy Medium

Shopify is a good choice if you want to start on your own with a few products. If you want a shop that grows with you, without paying rent forever, PrestaShop makes more sense. At Flag we only work with PrestaShop: we know it because we run online shops of our own too, so we live sellers’ problems first-hand.

migration

Can I rebuild my online shop without losing rankings?

Yes, as long as every page that changes address has its own 301 redirect and products, categories, titles and images are moved without losing anything. We plan it before touching the site, not after.

A 301 redirect is a signpost that tells Google and customers “this page is now here”. Without it, anyone arriving from an old link finds an error page and the site loses rankings. First of all we make a complete list of the old shop’s addresses and decide where each one leads. If you want to understand what happens when it goes wrong, here’s how to avoid 404 errors after a migration. If your shop is already on PrestaShop 1.7 or 8 and you want to move to the new version, start with the free check-up for a PrestaShop 9 migration.

faq

Frequently asked questions about PrestaShop e-commerce development

How much does a PrestaShop online shop cost?

It depends on the project: that’s why at Flag the quote is tailor-made, and we put it together after a call where you tell us what you sell. For a rough idea right away, use the e-commerce cost calculator: choose what you need and see an indicative estimate, excluding VAT. The cost of a PrestaShop shop depends mainly on the number of products, integrations (management software, marketplaces, couriers), languages, how custom the design is and any migration from an old site. The software is free: you pay for the project, development, hosting and any paid modules. Every project always includes custom design, basic SEO, payment and shipping setup, training and 1 month of support after launch, and you can pay in instalments.

What is Flag’s Method 10?

Method 10 is how Flag Agency builds every PrestaShop online shop: 10 points included that an off-the-shelf shop doesn’t have, namely technical SEO, brand categories, WhatsApp support, a powerful server, accessibility, our own theme with compliant cookies and withdrawal button, invoicing at checkout, smart sorting, advanced product pages and conversion optimisation. It isn’t a fixed-price package: the quote is still tailor-made.

How long does it take to build an online shop?

Timing depends on three things: how many products need uploading, how many integrations are needed (management software, marketplaces, couriers) and how quickly photos and copy come in. Before we start we give you a written schedule with the dates of each phase, so you know when you can start selling.

PrestaShop or Shopify: which is better?

If you want a site that’s yours, with no platform fees and a large or multilingual catalogue, PrestaShop. Shopify is simpler if you’re starting on your own, but you pay a monthly fee forever and the shop stays on their platform. With PrestaShop the code and data are yours, and you can change supplier whenever you like.

Can I migrate my online shop without losing rankings?

Yes. Before touching the site we list every address on the old shop and set up a 301 redirect for each one, so Google and your customers find the new pages. We move products, categories, titles, descriptions and images without losing anything. If you just want to move a PrestaShop 1.7 shop to a newer version, there’s also Shop Migrator, our migration module.

Are the site and the data mine?

Yes. PrestaShop is open source: the shop’s code, the products and your customers’ data stay yours. The domain and hosting are in your name, and you hold the logins. If one day you want to change agency, you can do it without asking anyone’s permission and without rebuilding the shop from scratch.

Who looks after me once the shop is live?

For the first month, we do: questions, fixes and small tweaks are included in the price. After that, you can stay with us through Flag’s PrestaShop support: updates, modules and faults, with an estimate before each job. For new projects, redesigns and growing your shop, we’re still the people to call.

Can I pay for an online shop in instalments?

Yes, we offer staged payments, so you don’t have to pay the whole amount up front before you start selling. For some projects we also consider a revenue-share partnership: part of our fee comes from the shop’s sales. We talk about it at our first meeting, looking at your project and your numbers together.
